Note: ginger beer is not ginger ale. It is a richer, more ginger-y (is that a word?) tasting ginger ale. The ginger beers today can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic (ginger beer began life as an alcoholic product). I linked to fever tree above. It is REALLY good, and can be had for about six bucks for a four pack at your local grocery store. It is found in the pop aisle, not in the beer aisle in most stores.

Pink Shimmy Cocktail Recipe

When I went on the hunt for new cocktail recipes, and Hubby suggested the Pink Lady, I found a variation called the Pink Shimmy cocktail. It was invented in New Orleans in the 1920s. I sincerely doubt the ice cream was originally in that recipe though – seems like something that got added many years later to update the drink.

I am not a gin drinker (at all), so can’t comment on the taste, but it is a nice looking cocktail!

The Pink Lady Cocktail Recipe

I was asking Hubby for a classic cocktail recipe, and he said his mother used to order The Pink Lady Cocktail back in the day. Sooooo I looked up the classic recipe and decided to make it, and share it, with you all!

Apparently, this is the original lady’s night cocktail. It was invented during the prohibition era when er, bathtub gin was less than palatable. This was concocted to make that bad bathtub gin taste better, and it was frequently served to the ladies, hence the name.

I am not a gin drinker (at all), so cannot comment on the taste, but it is a nice looking cocktail!
