Cranberry Ambrosia Salad: Easy Holiday Recipe
You might call this cranberry fluff. In our house, fluff is a version of this festive salad, but without nuts or cranberries and with Jell-O.
This quick, no-bake recipe blends tart cranberries and sweet flavors for a refreshing holiday side dish! It’s great for Thanksgiving dinner or as a side dish, or dessert for your Christmas meal. You will make this one a holiday tradition filed under dessert salads!
Cranberry ambrosia salad is a slight variation on an old Southern classic. Creamy Cool Whip is folded with sweet pineapple, crunchy pecans, fluffy marshmallows, and the tart taste of cranberry sauce. Everyone will love this super easy salad recipe, and what better way to use up leftover cranberry sauce? It’s perfect for the Christmas or Thanksgiving table.
Tips and variations for making this cranberry ambrosia salad recipe:
● There are a ton of variations that you can use with this salad. Swap out the pineapple for maraschino cherries, add mandarin oranges, use chopped walnuts instead of pecans, or try Greek yogurt instead of the Cool Whip.
● While Cool Whip was used to make this recipe, any imitation whipped topping will work.
● 3 cups of Cool Whip is one 8-ounce container.
● Pineapple tidbits are smaller than chunks but larger than crushed pineapple.
● You want to use whole berry cranberry sauce, not the jellied traditional cranberry sauce.
● Make sure that the pineapple is fully drained. Pineapple juice can break down the Cool Whip quicker than usual.
● Store leftovers, covered, in the fridge for up to 4 days.
● You can freeze Ambrosia Salad for up to 4 months in an airtight container, but I really don’t recommend it. The fruit can break down the whipped topping in the thawing process.
