OMG, who else loves frosting!? I love all kinds of frosting from traditional buttercream frosting to cream cheese frosting to beer frosting (yes, beer frosting, it is a real thing!).
Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe
I eat cake strictly for the frosting.
And yet, for me, canned frosting is kinda gross. I recall my ex-SIL and her husband (who were total fitness geeks) telling me that their “special treat” was opening up a can of frosting and eating it with a spoon.
Errrr yeah… not something for me.
I like homemade frosting. I can, to some extent, control the flavor better. I can control the consistency. And honestly? Fresh, homemade frosting just plain tastes better. I know what is in it. Yum!
I hope you enjoy this cream cheese frosting. It is quick and easy to make, and tastes delicious!
Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe tips and variations:
● For my UK and Australian friends: confectioners sugar is icing sugar (powdered sugar, 10x).
● In the US 8 tablespoons of butter = 1 stick, and 1 stick of butter = ½ a cup.
● Always frost completely cooled baked goods so your frosting does not melt on application.
● Storage – Store in an airtight container or in a bowl covered in plastic in the fridge for up to 4 days. This frosting can be stored in the freezer in the same type of container, for up to 2 weeks.
● Reheating – I do not suggest heating this frosting as it will melt and not gain back its form.
