Mushroom Gruyère Triangle Tarts Recipe

Gruyère is a hard yellow cheese that originated in the cantons of Fribourg, Vaud, Neuchâtel, Jura, and Bern in Switzerland. It is named after the town of Gruyère. This is a sweeter cheese, with a touch of salt. For most people, the best comparison may be to Jarlsberg.

Mushroom Gruyère Triangle Tarts Notes:

• I have used 1 teaspoon of minced garlic in this recipe. If you like a less garlicky taste, use a bit less garlic, if you like things more garlicky, add more! The garlic portion is truly “to taste”.

• If you are not one to mince fresh garlic, buy it in a jar! It is located in either the Italian section, produce, or the condiment section of your local grocery store. While shelf-stable at purchase, once you open the jar it must be refrigerated.

• The “tarts” are definitely cheaters using crescent rolls. If you would like to make true tartlets or purchase premade tartlets, check your cooking temperature to make certain the top of the tartlet crust does not burn during the cooking time.

Bacon Asparagus Tartlet Recipe

Appetizers come in all shapes and sizes, from dips, to nibbles to individually served preportioned goodies on sticks, appetizers are great for parties, snacks, or to wet your appetite for the main course.

These Bacon Asparagus Tartlets are in the latter category. You can make them ahead of time and serve cold, you can bake them and hold in a warm oven, or you can serve hot (just allow to cool for a second or two so your guests do not burn their tongues on the hot cheese!).

These also make a great little breakfast bite – wonderful for a brunch or on your holiday breakfast menu.

Ready in about 30 minutes or so, this recipe is easily doubled, tripled, quadrupled … ok, I think you have the idea. You can multiply the recipe to serve more guests or to allow more than three (my serving suggestion) Bacon Asparagus Tartlet per guest.

Notes:

• The bacon needs to be precooked.
• The asparagus in this recipe is not precooked. If you like a softer asparagus and want to sauté the asparagus for a bit to make it softer, allow it to cool down before using so it doesn’t cook the egg. You may be able to temper it, but cooling down would be easier.
• If you choose to go with raw asparagus, it will be firmer in these tartlets.

So, on to the yummy recipe…

Low Carb Parmesan and Caraway Crackers Recipe

cheese cracker chips on a wooden cutting board over a blue kitchen towel

If you are on a low carb diet, or even if you’re not, these easy to make Parmesan and caraway seed crackers are a delicious, simple to make, snack. In just a few minutes you can enjoy the great bite of Parmesan cheese with a dash of caraway in convenient cracker chip form. A fabulous low carb snack!

Low Carb Parmesan and Caraway Crackers Recipe

Who else is a cheese lover!? I certainly am. Making your own crackers (or cracker chips) is an easy recipe. Double or triple the recipe for a great TV snack, game day snack, or party food. This is yummy, cheesy goodness.

Notes:

• Recipes do not get any easier than this. These are great little snack crackers for cheese lovers or low carb dieters.

• A 3.5oz of chunk Parmesan cheese should be equal to one cup of shredded Parmesan cheese. I listed this as 4 servings (four (4) chips) for ease of distribution (this recipe should make 16 low carb crackers), but if the actual serving is one ounce of cheese, then the actual low carb Parmesan and caraway crackers serving is 4.5 chips. I cannot imagine people would break a chip in half to get the full serving. If you are like me you are more likely to eat eight chips to make up for that missing half chip.

• I make something very similar to this with mozzarella cheese. You can try basil flakes, red pepper flakes, or parsley flakes for the herb. Mozzarella chips will be much softer, however, so check on the cook time if you try and substitute cheeses. You may have to adjust cooking time and walk the fine line between overdone and chip-like (this note is if you choose to try a different cheese).
