Hot Buttered Rum Recipe

Everyone has a hot buttered rum recipe! This traditional cold weather hot cocktail goes back hundreds of years. Hot buttered rum is defined as a mixed drink containing rum, butter, hot water or cider, that may have an additional sweetener (rum is pretty sweet, but so is molasses), and sometimes spices – such as nutmeg, cinnamon, or cloves. This recipe uses nutmeg for garnish, but if you prefer cinnamon or cloves, they will work too!

Notes:

• You do not have to rim this glass. You can however, and sugar or brown sugar for the dry, rum for the wet is a good choice. Rimming a glass is simple. If you are not sure how to do so, click here for instructions on how to rim a cocktail glass.

• You can use more, or less, butter to suit your taste!
