Glow in the Dark Cocktail Recipes

Are you looking for a fun drink to impress your friends? These glow in the dark cocktail recipes are simple to make, lots of fun to see “glow”, and a real conversation starter. Whether for a Halloween party (obviously!) or some other event or get together, if you have a dark room and a black light, these glow in the dark cocktail recipes are a must-make!

smoking purple cocktail drink in a glass in a chemistry setting, beakers in the back

Glow in the Dark Cocktail Recipes Notes:

My Glow in the Dark Jello Shots recipe uses tonic water to get them to glow. These cocktails are using energy drinks, Monster Maxx specifically. It is the Vitamin B that makes it glow, so any energy drink with that will work. You can also crush up Vitamin B and put that in a drink instead, or use tonic water.

You can basically make ANY cocktail glow in the dark just swapping the liquid to tonic water, a vitamin B drink, or adding vitamin B. However, if you expect to just plop these Glow in the Dark Cocktails on a table and they will “glow” you are bound to be disappointed. You need a black light to get these cocktails to “glow” in the dark. Without it, they are just purple and blue drinks.

A black light flashlight is fine for showing one (or two or three) glow in the dark jello shots on a clear surface, but you will want a black light (like in a bar) for a party setting.

Set up your glow in the dark jello shots on a clear tray, in a bed of ice (with the rope of black light underneath the ice) or turn over a clear plastic popcorn bowl and put the rope of black light underneath. The darker the area the better the drinks will glow.

• There are actually two different drink recipes in this post, so you have more choices to serve your guests at your party!

• For the first cocktail (the blue one) you can free some MAXX Monster Energy Drink ice cubes, or just use regular ice cubes.

• For the second cocktail (the purple one), you will need to freeze some MAXX Monster Energy Drink ice cubes first, and then crush them.

• You can add some dry ice for a cool smoking effect.

Autumn Harvest Sangria Recipe

This is a bourbon and red wine sangria made with apples and pears as the fruits. Add in lemons, peaches, nectarines, plums, whatever your area is producing, your local farmstand is selling or is available in your grocery store from July through December. Try not to mix too much citrus into this sangria though, as it is a fall-flavors sangria recipe.

If you would like to enjoy this in the wintertime, Chilean fruits can generally be found in the produce section of your local grocer.

Autumn Harvest Sangria Recipe Notes:

• You can use any fruit-forward red wine you like.

• Apples and pears lead this sangria. Feel free to round-out the fruit with nectarines, peaches, plums, grapes, etc. You want readily available, fresh fruits. Red currants are another good choice for this sangria recipe.

• This is basically a Midwestern Sangria recipe!

• You do not have to put in lemon slices, but it adds a nice bit of tart to this recipe. You are getting orange from the triple sec.

• Triple Sec is listed, which means Orange Curaçao, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, etc. all work too.

• If you do not like to soak your fruit in the sangria, you can add your fruit just before serving.

Sparkling Fall Harvest Punch Recipe

Sparkling wine will taste different depending on the variety of grapes used in the production of the wine. Champagne is citrus, white peach, and cherry, and made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes.

Prosecco is green apple, honeysuckle and pear and and made from Glera grapes (can also include Verdiso, Bianchetta Trevigiana, Perera grapes).

Cava (Spanish sparkling wine) will taste more like Champagne as it is produced using the same methods. Depending on the grape used Macabeu (lemony),
Parellada (citrus), Xarel·lo (pear), your beverage will be influenced by the undertones.

Germany Sekt is usually sweeter than Champagne, Sekt uses grapes imported from other countries (France, Italy, and Spain). It is more like Prosecco than Cava or Champagne.

US sparkling wines will vary greatly by region and grapes.

There are also now sparkling wines being imported from Argentina and Australia!

Definitely check the notes on the bottle of sparkling wine you are using to see how to balance or enhance the fruit notes with your cut fruit.

Notes:

• Feel free to add to, or reduce, the amounts of fruit, cider, or cranberry juice to change the taste of you fall harvest punch!

• The fruit is one TOTAL cup as listed. Use plum, peach, apple, pear, etc to achieve the taste you would like. The recipe I featured used apple, plum, and peach as a mix to achieve one cup. You can definitely use only one fruit, but meshing flavors is very nice.

• For additional garnish, consider a sprig of fresh rosemary.
